Mike Lawler

U.S. Representative, New York's 17th District (Hudson Valley) ยท R-NY-17 ยท ๐Ÿ“ All of New York's Republicans

๐Ÿšจ RINO Alert ๐Ÿ›๏ธ In office

In office since 2023. On the ballot November 3, 2026 against Democrat Cait Conley (toss-up).

Signed the Democrats' petitions twice to go around Speaker Johnson.

๐Ÿ“‹ The short version

Lawler is one of the few Republicans who signed Democratic discharge petitions, the tool the minority uses to force votes against the Speaker's will. He did it to force the vote extending the Obamacare subsidies and the vote on TPS for Haitians, then voted for both bills. He also voted for the union bills Democrats forced to the floor.

๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ How Mike Lawler voted on the key votes

Lawler represents a suburban district that leans Democratic and says he works across the aisle on health-care costs.
